City Police Urges Caution on Accident-Prone Highway Amidst Massive Traffic Jam and Potholes
The city police's urgent appeal to citizens for cautious driving and adherence to safety precautions comes in the wake of a massive traffic jam caused by continuous rain, ongoing road repair work, and extensive potholes between Navale bridge and Warje. Commuters experienced bumper-to-bumper traffic with a 4 km long queue till New Katraj Tunnel, leading to significant inconvenience. The situation was aggravated by large potholes filled with water, making it challenging for motorists to navigate, resulting in chaotic scenes on the highway. Particularly, the stretch from Katraj New Tunnel to Vadgaon Bridge, covering a 4 km distance, has been identified as an accident-prone area, witnessing numerous fatalities, injuries, accidents, and damage to vehicles over the past nine years.
As citizens demand prompt action from highway authorities and relevant agencies to repair the potholes, the city police's advisory aims to prevent further accidents in this problematic area. It highlights the importance of exercising caution while driving and ensuring safety measures are followed diligently. The Pune-Bengaluru highway, being one of the busiest transport corridors in the city, requires immediate attention to alleviate traffic woes and ensure the safety of commuters.
