The Maha Metro and PMPML have launched feeder bus services from key Metro stations to enhance last-mile connectivity, covering areas like Bavdhan, Warje, Indiranagar, and Dhankawdi. With 27 operational Metro stations on two routes, the feeder buses aim to improve commuter convenience, running on 17 routes from nine stations, including PCMC and Nashik Phata. However, commuters have expressed dissatisfaction with the low frequency of the buses, which range from 10 minutes to over an hour, and have urged authorities to match the bus frequency with Metro trains' intervals, especially on routes like Bavdhan and Warje where buses arrive every 40 minutes.
Despite the introduction of these services and a daily footfall increase to 1.5 lakh on the Metro, residents are calling for improvements to the feeder bus system, citing issues like overcharging auto drivers and limited parking near Metro stations. Suggestions include deploying smaller or midi buses for better coverage and increasing the frequency to at least every 10 minutes, particularly on high-demand routes like Yerawada. Maha Metro officials acknowledged the concerns, noting that the bus services are new, and frequency will be gradually increased in collaboration with PMPML, with ongoing adjustments to bus routes for improved commuter accessibility.
