Thousands of commuters travelling to the Chakan MIDC have been enduring severe hardships for the past two months due to pothole-ridden roads, causing significant delays and disruptions. Despite repeated complaints from several firms and the Federation of Chakan Industry to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and other authorities, the situation remains unchanged. The potholes have severely hampered company operations as employees struggle to reach work on time, exacerbating traffic congestion in the area.
In response, MIDC officials claim they have identified problematic areas and initiated some repairs, but the progress has been slow due to the ongoing monsoon. Fresh tenders are being floated for extensive road repair works, though company representatives criticise the authorities for their lack of year-round maintenance, leading to these issues during the monsoon season. The poor road conditions have also strained the traffic management efforts of the Pimpri Chinchwad police, who face challenges in regulating vehicular movement in the industrial zone.
