Former Civic Leaders Propose Modifications to Vishrantwadi Flyover Plan

15 Mar 2024

Former corporators from the Vishrantwadi area have approached the civic body with suggestions for modifications to the proposed flyover and grade separator plan, following the recent laying of the foundation stone by the deputy chief minister at Vishrantwadi Chowk. Expressing concern, they noted that the current project does not adequately account for traffic flow on the Dhanori-Lohegaon Road, potentially leading to future congestion issues. With frequent traffic snarls already plaguing Vishrantwadi Chowk, commuters face significant delays during rush hours, prompting calls for proactive measures to address the mounting congestion.

Additionally, leaders emphasised the importance of considering future infrastructure developments, such as the proposed Metro, in the area's planning. They urged authorities to align the flyover and grade separators with potential Metro routes to ensure comprehensive traffic management solutions. While Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) authorities indicated that groundwork for the project will commence after a thorough traffic study, residents stressed the need for long-term planning to accommodate anticipated growth and ensure seamless connectivity for commuters travelling to and from Alandi, Tingrenagar, Dhanori, and Vishrantwadi.
