Dumping waste along the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway, NH-48, has become a prevalent issue causing concern among commuters and residents alike. From discarded household items to construction debris, the sight of garbage piled up along the highway has become a common eyesore. Despite the inconvenience and environmental hazards posed by these heaps of waste, little action seems to be taken to address the problem effectively. Residents are calling for stricter security measures and monitoring to deter individuals from dumping waste along the highway, emphasising the need for proactive measures to maintain cleanliness and safety on major roadways.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) are urged to take immediate action to address the growing issue of garbage accumulation along the highway. Residents emphasise the importance of regular garbage collection, enforcement of laws against roadside dumping, and the implementation of public education campaigns to raise awareness about responsible waste disposal practices. While fines have been imposed on violators caught dumping waste, more concerted efforts are needed to curb this problem and ensure the cleanliness and safety of highways for all commuters.
