Relief may be on the horizon for tech companies and industries in Hinjawadi MIDC, as the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has decided to expedite critical infrastructure projects in the area. In a recent meeting with the Hinjawadi Industries Association (HIA), the PMRDA commissioner assured that development of the Hinjawadi Metro station, new road networks, and other civic amenities will be prioritized. Industry representatives raised concerns about worsening traffic congestion, lack of public transport, poor internal roads, unregulated parking, encroachments, and inadequate monsoon preparedness — all of which have long hindered the area’s efficiency and growth despite it being a major IT and industrial hub.
Representatives from the Forum for IT Employees and HIA stressed the need for improved last-mile connectivity, better internal roads, and on-ground inspections by government officials to understand daily commuter struggles. They emphasized that even with the Metro becoming operational, it would only partly ease the traffic issue unless additional road infrastructure is developed. PMRDA officials responded by promising swift completion of the Metro station and improved coordination between departments for timely execution of roadworks, encroachment removal, and pre-monsoon measures. Industry stakeholders are cautiously optimistic that this renewed focus will finally translate into real change on the ground after years of delays.
