Commuters traversing the two operational Metro lines in Pune are facing hurdles in achieving seamless connectivity due to incomplete stations at Khadki, Yerawada, and Range Hills. While the Yerawada station is expected to become operational next month after finalising its exit-entry point adjustments, the Khadki station requires an additional four months for completion. Similarly, the Range Hills station's readiness is anticipated to take at least a year, pending necessary clearances from the defence authorities. Consequently, commuters bound for these areas must disembark at alternative stations like Bopodi or Shivajinagar for Khadki and Range Hills, and Bund Garden or Kalyani Nagar for Yerawada, exacerbating inconvenience.
Transport activists have criticised the delays, attributing them to a lack of coordination among government agencies and inadequate planning. Many stations along the operational Metro lines still lack sufficient entry and exit points, further complicating the commuting experience for passengers. With commuters, particularly IT professionals and airport travellers, eagerly awaiting the completion of these stations, officials remain optimistic about overcoming the remaining hurdles to ensure smoother connectivity in the near future.
