Khadakwasla Dam Increases Water Discharge Amidst Weather Concerns and Heavy Rainfall Possibility

26 Jul 2023

The authorities at Khadakwasla Dam have taken a proactive step in response to the prevailing weather conditions, increasing water discharge into the Mutha river basin.

As of 9 pm yesterday, the spillway released 856 cusecs, a considerable rise from 428 cusecs at 7 pm. Subsequently, at 10 pm, the discharge was further augmented to 1712 cusecs.

The decision, taken by the Sub Divisional Engineer overseeing the region's water projects, aims to maintain reservoir water levels within manageable limits, considering the possibility of heavy rainfall. Downstream residents are advised to exercise caution as the increased discharge may have implications for the local areas.

The Khadakwasla Dam serves as a critical water resource for flood control and supply purposes, emphasising the importance of managing water levels effectively.
