13 Feb 2024

In a significant development for residents of Lohegaon-Wagholi, the commencement of the long-awaited water supply project is imminent, with the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurating the foundation laying ceremony on Sunday. Valued at Rs 230 crore, the project is slated for completion within two-and-a-half years, aiming to address the persistent water scarcity issues in the region. PMC officials have assigned two contractors for the project, tasked with laying 430 km of distribution and transmission pipelines and constructing nine new overhead water tanks. Leveraging the Bhama Askhed dam as its primary water source, the initiative is a crucial step towards bolstering water availability, aligning with the government's broader infrastructure development agenda for Lohegaon and surrounding areas.

PMC's proactive approach towards enhancing water supply extends beyond Lohegaon-Wagholi, with similar initiatives underway in merged areas like Bavdhan and plans in the pipeline for regions such as Ambegaon, Manjari, Dhayari, Khadakwasla, and Narhe. Preliminary activities, including surveys, pre-work studies, and pipeline network design finalisation, have already commenced for the Lohegaon-Wagholi project. As the project progresses, funds will be allocated in phases, ensuring timely completion. Local representatives are advocating for expedited project execution to alleviate water woes for residents, underscoring the project's significance in addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges and improving quality of life in the region.
