The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) is set to deploy seven 24-hour real-time noise monitoring stations across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad as part of Phase II of the National Ambient Noise Monitoring Network. Four stations will be situated in Pune, including locations near Karve Road, Katraj Dairy, Hadapsar Industrial Area, and Savitribai Phule Pune University, while three will be installed in Pimpri Chinchwad near Jagtap Dairy, Dange Chowk, and Rose Garden. These locations were chosen based on discussions with local municipal corporations and classification of zones according to noise levels.
These stations will monitor noise levels continuously and provide reports on peak values for both day and night periods. The data collected will be regularly reviewed to evaluate pollution status, enabling authorities to take necessary actions to mitigate noise pollution. While residents anticipate positive outcomes from the installation, some suggest considering additional locations with severe noise pollution issues for future deployments to address community concerns effectively.
