The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has unveiled plans to monetize 24 land parcels totaling 450 hectares along the Pune-Mumbai expressway to secure funding for significant infrastructure projects. These initiatives, including the Samruddhi expressway, Pune ring road, Virar-Alibaug multimodal corridor, and Jalna Nanded expressway, will benefit from the 99-year leases of these land parcels. MSRDC Managing Director stated that the strategy is currently being implemented in Pune and Raigad districts, with tenders already floated for land parcels in Panvel and upcoming ones in Pune. These vacant land parcels, owned by the corporation or assigned by the government, will facilitate the rapid advancement of vital projects, with some being suitable for wayside amenities or residential developments, attracting investors seeking opportunities along highways.
In total, MSRDC possesses over 30 land parcels spanning more than 1,100 acres across the state. Furthermore, the corporation is entrusted with the planning and development of 71 villages in Panvel and Khalapur Taluka in Raigad district. This strategic move to monetize land resources represents a significant step in financing essential infrastructure ventures that will enhance connectivity and development in the region.
