Citizens in Maharashtra can now conveniently make online modifications to their 7/12 extracts, including updates related to heirship details and additional names, eliminating the need to physically visit talathi offices. The state settlement commissioner (holding additional charge) highlighted the streamlined process, enabling applicants to register on the Mahabhumi website and select from a range of 10 services, such as corrections, name additions, and heirship declarations. Each service is assigned a specific timeframe for clearance, with over 2 lakh applications already received since the project's launch last year.
Upon registration and submission of scanned documents, an application ID is generated, and the request is forwarded to the Talathi online for verification. Once approved, a mutation number is issued, and citizens are notified online. This number allows applicants to track the status of their documents on both the Mahabhumi website and the Aapli Chavadi portal, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the process. Additionally, the facility enables individuals across the state to apply for changes to their mutation entries from the comfort of their homes, reducing foot traffic in talathi offices and minimising reliance on intermediaries.
