The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) demolished over 150 illegal constructions in the Chikhali-Kudalwadi area during an anti-encroachment drive. Over three days, encroachments spanning approximately 2.31 lakh square feet were cleared following a recent fire incident that gutted 40 illegal scrap godowns, prompting demands for action. The operation targeted areas including More Patil Chowk to Kudalwadi Police Chowki and Shreeram Chowk towards Ravi Ranjan Weighing Machine, resulting in the demolition of 38 RCC constructions, 116 brick structures, and industrial tin sheds.
The drive, involving 56 Maharashtra Security Force personnel, 12 police officers, and PCMC’s anti-encroachment department staff, concluded in Kudalwadi on Friday. PCMC officials emphasized that while action in the area has ceased, anti-encroachment drives will persist across the city. Residents are advised to refrain from encroaching on government land to avoid similar actions.
