In a proactive response to environmental concerns, dedicated squads have been formed to target construction firms violating regulations in Pimpri Chinchwad. Over the past four days, these squads, deployed across 32 different wards, identified violations at 421 construction sites, resulting in fines exceeding Rs 33 lakh being imposed on the offenders. The squads, equipped with various personnel, use photography and videography to document violations. Notices are then issued in accordance with environmental protection acts, with strict penalties, including halting construction, being considered for persistent violators. Emphasizing the seriousness of the initiative, authorities note that there are approximately 1,000-1,500 ongoing construction projects in Pimpri Chinchwad, and strict actions will be taken to ensure compliance.
