Pimpri Chinchwad Secures Second Position in India Smart Cities Project Awards with Innovative Smart Sarathi App

Pimpri Chinchwad's Smart Sarathi app has secured the second position in the governance category at the India Smart Cities Project Award presented by the Government of India. Launched as part of the Smart Cities Mission on June 25, 2015, this initiative aims to revolutionise urban development through innovative "smart solutions," enhancing essential infrastructure, sustainability, and residents' quality of life. Noteworthy achievements include the completion of 76% of proposed projects totaling 6,041 projects valued at ₹1,10,635 crore, with the remaining 1,894 projects worth ₹60,095 crore on track for completion by June 30, 2024. Integrated Command and Control Centers (ICCC) have been pivotal in managing urban operations, resulting in improvements in areas like crime monitoring, transportation management, waste disposal, and disaster response across the 100 Smart Cities involved in the mission. The India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC), which promotes sustainable development, has recognized city strategies, projects, and ideas contributing to this endeavour through peer learning, best practice dissemination, and awards across multiple categories.

 

Under the Smart Cities Mission, Pimpri Chinchwad's Smart Sarathi app has clinched the second spot in the governance category of the India Smart Cities Project Award by the Government of India. The initiative, initiated in 2015, has made significant strides in transforming urban development with innovative smart solutions. With 6,041 projects worth ₹1,10,635 crore completed and the remaining 1,894 projects valued at ₹60,095 crore set to be finished by June 2024, the mission has reached a remarkable milestone. Notably, Integrated Command and Control Centers (ICCC) have played a crucial role in enhancing urban operations, resulting in improved crime monitoring, citizen safety, transportation management, waste disposal, water supply, and disaster response. The India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC) further recognizes outstanding achievements across the 100 Smart Cities, fostering peer-to-peer learning and promoting sustainable development practices.
