The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) are engaged in a blame game over irregular water supply caused by power disruptions. PMC officials claim that continuous power interruptions at water treatment centres like Parvati, Lashkar, SNDT, and Chaturshringi are leading to water supply issues across various city areas. They argue that MSEDCL's failure to maintain express feeders, which are supposed to be dedicated to water treatment plants, is the root cause. Meanwhile, MSEDCL refutes these allegations, asserting that the issues stem from PMC's inadequate maintenance of its electrical systems and not from any failures on MSEDCL's part.
MSEDCL has stated that it has taken all necessary precautions to ensure a stable power supply to water schemes, even during challenging weather conditions. They claim that the power supply has remained stable despite heavy rains and flooding, and they maintain daily communication with district officials to address any issues. MSEDCL officials argue that PMC's claims are baseless and emphasise that any power-related disruptions are due to faults within PMC's systems, not MSEDCL's operations.
