PMC Awaits Final Approval for Widening Mundhwa Road

09 Mar 2024

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is awaiting the final approval from the Director General of Defence Estates (DGDE) in New Delhi for its proposal to widen a 2 km stretch of Mundhwa Road, extending from ABC Farms to Tadigutta Chowk. The project, aimed at alleviating vehicular congestion in areas like Mundhwa, Magarpatta, Pune Cantonment, Koregaon Park, and Kalyani Nagar, has already been cleared by the defence estates office of Pune Circle and the Southern Command’s principal director of defence estates. The proposal now awaits submission to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for work permission, as the land earmarked for widening falls under defence estates.

PMC officials have presented their widening plan, indicating the need for approximately 3 acres of land, including over 1 acre of defence land. The remaining land required for the project belongs to private entities. The planned widening aims to enhance the road's carriage width from 18m to 30m, addressing the current congestion issues.
