The civic body removed approximately 70 stalls, covering 7,000 square feet on Ferguson College Road during an anti-encroachment drive.
These stalls were situated on the Shirole plot, which had transformed into a makeshift shopping complex. The civic body had issued a notice to the shops in 2016 to address this illegal encroachment.
However, the owner of the Shirole Plot sought legal intervention and obtained a stay order. Upon receiving relief from the district court, the PMC successfully had the stay order lifted. Subsequently, the civic body initiated an anti-encroachment campaign in the area.
In addition to this, the PMC also took action against individuals who were illegally occupying footpaths and roads.
