A major infrastructure development project in Pune, involving the construction of a 1.7km double-deck flyover from Savitribai Phule Pune University to RBI junction, is expected to be completed ahead of schedule. Officials from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) announced that the project, which is part of the Hinjawadi-Shivaji Nagar third Metro line, is now projected to finish by August 2024, nearly three months earlier than the initial deadline of November 2024. The project concessionaire has requested an additional Rs 26 crore to expedite construction through increased manpower and machinery, pushing the total cost of the flyover to Rs 265 crore from its original estimate of Rs 239 crore. This development aims to improve connectivity in the region, benefiting commuters traveling to areas like Hinjewadi, Baner, Balewadi, Maval, and parts of Pimpri Chinchwad.
Furthermore, discussions at the Pune Unified Urban Transport Authority (PUMTA) meeting addressed the need to accelerate land acquisition processes for road widening and ramp construction associated with the project. Barricading permission was also sought for the Aundh-Pashan ramp to ensure the safety and efficiency of the construction process. Commuters and residents are optimistic about the project's potential to alleviate traffic congestion in the area, emphasizing the importance of making adequate traffic arrangements during construction to ensure a smooth flow of traffic throughout the development.
