PMRDA officials are nearing the final stages of the Maan-Mahalunge town planning scheme, as they prepare to submit the arbitration report to the state government for approval next month. This significant scheme encompasses 510 plots and benefits 5,800 beneficiaries, offering them a generous 50% of the land at the same location. Initiated in 2018, the scheme aims to create a win-win situation for landowners willing to part with their land, setting a model for five similar schemes in Wadachiwadi, Autade Handewadi, Manjari Kolwadi, and Holkarwadi (two), requiring a total of 751.55 hectares. These town planning schemes, funded initially from the PMRDA's corpus, are intended to serve as revenue models for the proposed 128-km PMRDA inner ring road, with financial support expected from the Central government and PMRDA's own budget allocation of Rs 175 crore. Maharashtra is drawing inspiration from the successful execution of town planning schemes by the Gujarat government.
