The Public Works Department (PWD) has resolved the glitches in its pothole complaint redressal system app, announcing its operational status starting September 1. Citizens will now be able to use the app to register complaints about potholes, with a promise of addressing them within four days. The State PWD minister emphasized that any delays in resolution will lead to action against the contractor and the relevant field officer. After a rigorous two-month testing phase prompted by citizens' complaints of inability to upload photos of potholes, the app is now set to streamline the reporting process. The PWD, responsible for overseeing a vast network of roads totaling 1,05,000 km, is hopeful that the app's functionality will be well-received as citizens can finally upload photos of potholes directly from the site.
The PWD department official mentioned that efforts have been made to tackle earlier issues, allowing citizens to effortlessly capture and upload images of potholes or road damage. The app's ease of use is anticipated to be of great assistance to regular commuters, enabling them to conveniently report road issues. In response to these improvements, citizens expressed optimism
about the app's effectiveness, citing their previous struggles with photo uploads from remote locations. With this technological enhancement, the PWD aims to enhance road maintenance and upkeep across the state highways and district roads, ensuring a smoother and safer travel experience for the public.
