The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) is set to conduct the final safety check for the Pune Metro's Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch on January 20, following a prior inspection by the CMRS team on January 6. During the recent inspection, various aspects of the metro station were evaluated, including staircases, lifts, escalators, and facilities for differently-abled passengers. The team also conducted a mock drill to test the fire prevention system, addressing concerns related to smoke detection, fire alarms, and emergency evacuation procedures. Minor observations were noted, primarily involving technical details, and the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) is expected to address these within two days.
Pune Metro Line 1, covering a total stretch of 15.7 kilometres with 16 elevated metro stations, is currently operational between Vanaz and Ruby Hall Clinic stations. The pending section between Ruby Hall Clinic and Ramwadi is yet to be operational. Additionally, in a separate incident, the Pune Metro faced a brief halt at Kasarwadi metro station due to a technical issue caused by a bird colliding with the overhead cable of the metro train. The service resumed after 36 minutes, and Maha-Metro officials assured that steps would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
