The district collector has directed officials to complete the final phase of land acquisition for the Pune Ring Road project, covering 207 hectares, by the end of December to enable construction to begin in January. The project, divided into eastern and western phases, requires land acquisition in three villages for each phase. A total of 143 hectares is to be acquired for the eastern phase and 64 hectares for the western phase. Officials stated that compensation for land acquisition has already been announced, which should expedite the process. The affected villages span four talukas — Maval, Khed, Purandar, and Haveli for the eastern phase, and Mulshi, Haveli, and Bhor for the western phase.
The 74.08km stretch of the eastern phase will connect Urse on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway to Shivare on the Pune-Satara highway, while the 64.45km stretch of the western phase will form a circular road from Shivare to Urse. With the acquisition nearing completion, construction work is expected to begin on schedule, aiming for project completion by May 2027.
