The Pune traffic police have barred the entry of heavy vehicles, except PMPML buses, on 13 key road stretches until September 18 to prevent traffic snarls during the 10-day Ganeshotsav. Route diversions and road closures, including Shivaji Road near Shaniwar Wada, have been implemented in central areas like Kumbharwada, Dengle Bridge, Mandai, Sinhagad Road, and Keshav Nagar, where Ganesh idol stalls are set up. Residents have demanded better traffic management, as the central areas have seen heavy congestion despite the presence of traffic wardens. One-way traffic may be introduced, and PMPML buses have been rerouted via JM Road. Motorists are advised not to park on roadsides and can use riverside roads for parking depending on water release into the Mutha River.
