Several residents near the NIBM Annexe Road area in Kondhwa are facing daily commuting challenges due to multiple incomplete road projects initiated by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The continuous movement of heavy vehicles for construction work has exacerbated the situation, turning the main road into a series of potholes. Residents have voiced their frustration, stating that despite numerous complaints, the PMC has only focused on tax collection and has ignored their plight. A resident of Ganga Kingston housing society highlighted the dangerous conditions, citing daily accidents due to the potholes and muck. Additionally, an issue with the drainage line has caused dirty water to fill the streets, affecting around 30-35 housing societies in the area.
Residents also reported that construction and encroachment have reduced the actual carriageway, making vehicular and pedestrian movement hazardous. The absence of streetlights on certain stretches adds to the danger, especially after dark. The president of Imperial Towers housing society and the Anandvan Parisar Residents Forum mentioned their efforts to pressure PMC officials into action, including a protest at the ward office. Despite these efforts, the condition remains dire, with heavy vehicles further deteriorating the roads. Civic officials stated that three major road projects are underway and explained the need for constructing the roads in patches to prevent cracks. They assured that the construction would be completed in six months and that pothole repairs would be prioritised.
