Road Transport Office Initiates Integrated Traffic Management Measures Near Navale Bridge
A team of senior officials, including the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Pune, conducted a site visit to evaluate the accident location near Navale Bridge, where a tragic incident resulted in the loss of four lives on Monday night. The accident involved a collision between a truck transporting ground flour and two vehicles, leading to a destructive fire. The RTO department is proactively addressing road safety concerns on this stretch by contemplating the adoption of an integrated traffic management system (ITMS). Following their assessment, a comprehensive report will be submitted to the state transport department, reflecting their commitment to preventing similar accidents. This initiative aligns with a broader proposal from the Maharashtra state transport department to implement ITMS systems on all major highways, as previously suggested in August 2023. It's noteworthy that the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has successfully implemented the ITMS project on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, setting an example for road safety enhancements.
