Safety Concerns Rise as Unbarricaded Pits on Sinhagad Road Cause Traffic Woes

11 May 2024

Residents along Sinhagad Road are facing inconvenience due to the lack of proper barricading around pits dug up for flyover construction by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Commuters have expressed concern over the safety hazards posed by these open pits, emphasising the need for the civic body to implement appropriate safety measures. The situation escalated on May 5 when traffic congestion ensued at Manik Bagh Chowk following an accident caused by a driver losing control near the Veer Baji Pasalkar flyover and crashing into one of the uncovered pits.

The assistant police inspector of the Sinhagad traffic police department highlighted that these open pits not only contribute to traffic jams during peak hours but also jeopardise the safety of commuters. Urgent action is required to address this issue and ensure the safety of road users along Sinhagad Road.
