Sinhagad Road Flyover Delay Pushes Completion to June for Commuters

20 Mar 2025

Daily commuters on Sinhagad Road will have to wait at least another month to use part of the newly constructed flyover, as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has yet to complete the remaining work. Initially, the flyover’s wing from Rajaram Bridge Chowk to Funtime Theatre Chowk was scheduled to be ready by March 2025, while the opposite wing was set for an April opening. However, PMC has now confirmed that the first wing will be completed by April, while the second will take an additional two to three months, pushing its completion to June 2025. Officials stated that efforts are being made to expedite the remaining construction, and once work is completed, trial runs will be conducted before officially opening the flyover for public use.

Commuters eagerly awaiting the flyover hope it will be fully operational before the monsoon to ease traffic congestion. The 2.2km flyover is expected to significantly reduce travel time for those heading towards Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass, Wadgaon Budruk, and Khadakwasla. Currently, vehicles are forced to stop at multiple junctions, leading to traffic snarls and delays of 15-20 minutes. Residents have faced increased traffic issues during the last three years due to the ongoing construction. Additionally, PMC has made provisions for Metro pillars while constructing the flyover, with Metro work expected to begin next year once it receives approval from the central government.
