The civic administration has begun work on a proposal to extend Mundhwa Road from North Main Road towards Tadigutta Chowk and the Passport Office to reduce traffic congestion. The existing four-lane road is 18 metres wide and frequently experiences jams due to increasing vehicular movement.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated surveys for land requirements for road widening and is in discussions with the Forest Department and Defence Administration to widen the roads. PMC has received positive responses from the Defence Administration and Forest Department for land handover. Additionally, the left turn at Kalyaninagar Bridge is also being widened, and the widening work has already commenced there.
