Vehicular movement at Vishrantwadi Chowk is expected to slow down as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) begins groundwork for a grade separator and flyover connecting key roads like Alandi Road, Airport Road, Dhanori Road, and RTO Road. Barricades have been installed along the stretch from the chowk towards the RTO office, raising concerns among commuters about potential traffic chaos. While PMC officials assured that work will proceed in phases without a complete traffic closure, regular travellers have urged authorities to implement an effective traffic management plan to minimize inconvenience. The ₹100-crore project, initiated by the deputy chief minister, aims to ease congestion in the area.
However, pedestrians are facing additional challenges due to the removal of a foot overbridge at the chowk, leaving them without safe crossing options. Local residents have requested the administration to mark designated walkways and ensure smoother pedestrian movement. Commuters have also highlighted the need for expedited work on vital stretches like Vishrantwadi Road and Alandi Road, as lane closures are already causing bottlenecks. With the growing number of vehicles and ongoing construction, residents stress the importance of alternative traffic plans to manage the increased congestion.
