The recent decline in rainfall activity across Pune and much of Maharashtra has resulted in notable decreases in water levels within the region's crucial dams compared to the previous year. As per official reports, the combined water storage across the four dams of the Khadakwasla cluster has measured at 90.42% (equivalent to 26.36 TMC) on the present Saturday, marking a decline from the 96.03% (equivalent to 27.99 TMC) recorded on the same day in the preceding year. Specific dam water levels indicate that Khadakwasla Dam currently holds 81.43% water (approximately 1.61 TMC), Panshet Dam boasts 99.13% water (around 11.58 TMC), Warasgaon Dam contains 90.35% water (roughly 11.58 TMC), and Temghar Dam maintains a water level of 70.47% (equivalent to about 2.61 TMC). The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted 'light to moderate rain' for Pune until August 15. Similarly, other dams in the district are also experiencing reduced water levels due to diminished rainfall, such as Pawana Dam, responsible for supplying water to Pimpri Chinchwad, which presently holds 95.26% water compared to the 97.17% reported on the same day in the prior year.
