Residents in several areas of Pune, including Sinhagad Road, Dhayari, Dhankawadi, and parts of Katraj, faced water scarcity on Saturday due to a technical glitch in the power supply at the Wadgaon water treatment unit. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) water supply department promptly sought assistance from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to restore the supply and resume pumping water. Although water supply was eventually restored by evening, residents experienced low water pressure.
Local activists and residents expressed concerns about the sudden stoppage of water supply and urged the PMC to make alternative arrangements until the power supply to the distribution network was fully restored. Some residents noted that water pressure had already been low in the area in preceding days, and they hoped for extended water supply hours on Sunday to alleviate the inconvenience. The PMC assured that restoration efforts were underway, and detailed checks were being conducted to determine the cause of the disruption, amid residents' complaints about inadequate maintenance leading to supply line leakages and power failures at water treatment units.
