The design of the entry-exit point at Yerawada Metro station has come under scrutiny and criticism from former corporators and local residents, who are advocating for alterations to the plan to ensure smoother traffic flow along Nagar Road. The station, situated just 1 kilometer ahead of Parnakuti Chowk on the Nagar Road, offers access to the Airport Road junction. Concerns have been raised that the existing design could potentially reduce the width of one lane on the road, impacting the overall carrying capacity. Activist Daneil Landge stressed the need for authorities to reconsider and redesign the entry point to facilitate more efficient vehicular movement. Residents also emphasized the importance of addressing congestion and providing proper parking facilities to eliminate roadside parking near the station.
The Yerawada Metro station, a crucial stop on the Vanaz-Ramwadi Metro route, is expected to witness significant commuter footfall, further emphasizing the necessity for design adjustments to prevent disruptions to vehicular movement. Maha Metro officials acknowledged these concerns and stated that work on the entry-exit point had commenced approximately four months ago after consultations with civic authorities. They expressed willingness to engage in further discussions with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to explore potential design changes that could address the issues raised by local residents and former corporators. In addition to design modifications, commuters also called for efforts to curb encroachments and illegal parking, highlighting the need for comprehensive traffic management solutions in the area.
