A team from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has conducted preliminary inspections of the revised entry and exit points of the Yerwada Metro station on the Vanaz-Ramwadi elevated Metro route. Following objections from local activists regarding the original design and its potential to cause traffic chaos, the entry-exit locations were redesigned. Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro) expects to receive the final certification from CMRS within two weeks, allowing the station to open by the end of July. This station, crucial for local residents and commuters working in nearby commercial establishments, has been eagerly anticipated for its operational benefits.
In addition, Maha Metro is in talks with Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) to introduce feeder services from Yerwada station to Lohegaon airport, complementing the existing Ramwadi to airport route. The Yerwada station feeder buses will offer an extended journey, with all necessary assistance being provided by Maha Metro to ensure smooth implementation. Local residents have urged authorities to manage road traffic and Metro commuter movement effectively once the station is operational.
