The Bombay High Court has directed the Pune municipal commissioner to personally oversee the completion of the remaining 200 meters of the Baner-Pashan Link Road. Hearing a petition by the Baner Pashan Link Road Welfare Trust, the court emphasized the urgency of the project, initially tendered in 2014. The high court's previous order on August 2, 2023, mandated the compulsory acquisition of land to finalize the incomplete stretch.

 

To reduce traffic congestion, a new bridge over the Mula River connecting Sangvi and Bopodi is nearing completion. The project, jointly funded by the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations, aims to alleviate traffic in key areas. Initially scheduled for completion within 24 months, delays in land acquisition have extended the deadline to August 31, 2024. The bridge, costing Rs. 32.36 crore, will span 125 meters and feature an 18-meter width with footpaths on both sides.

 

A 15-minute heavy downpour on Sunday afternoon caused knee-deep waterlogging and disrupted traffic for nearly half an hour on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, particularly between Amrutanjan Point and Bhor Ghat tunnel.

 

Continuous heavy rainfall in the dam catchment areas has significantly increased water storage. By 5 PM on Sunday, the Khadakwasla cluster (Temghar, Varasgaon, Panshet, and Khadakwasla dams) had accumulated 10.12 TMC of water, marking a notable rise in water levels due to the intense rain.
