A High Court-mandated committee has been formed to reassess the flood lines of Pune's Mula-Mutha rivers due to concerns that current boundaries may not accurately reflect flood risks. Originally expected to report within four weeks, the study might now take up to seven months. Petitioners argue that the 2011 and 2016 flood lines overlook streams below Khadakwasla Dam, posing a risk to Pune residents. The committee is set to thoroughly re-evaluate the data before reporting back to the High Court.

The Union Cabinet has approved the Swargate to Katraj Underground Line Extension of Pune Metro's existing PCMC-Swargate Line. This 5.46 km extension, known as Line-1B, will include three underground stations and connect key areas like Market Yard, Bibwewadi, and Katraj. The project, estimated at Rs. 2,954.53 crore, aims to be completed by February 2029 and will enhance connectivity across Pune, easing traffic congestion and promoting sustainable urban development. The project will be executed by Maha-Metro, with projected daily ridership reaching nearly 2 lakh by 2057.

The Yerawada Metro station on the Vanaz-Ramwadi route will open to commuters from Wednesday, nearly five months after services began on the stretch in March 2024. Maha Metro confirmed that trains will stop at the station without affecting the current timetable. The station had remained closed to complete work on entry-exit points following residents' concerns over traffic. With all safety inspections completed, the station is now ready for commercial use.
